Baccarat Card Value Calculation
Card values in Baccarat differ from regular card games. The Ace counts as 1. Cards 2 through 9 are worth their face value. 10, J, Q, and K are all worth 0.
When two or three cards add up to more than 10, only the last digit counts — for example, 7 + 8 = 15 becomes 5. That is why 9 is considered the highest possible hand total.
Full dealing rules: Player and Banker each receive two cards. If the total is 0–5, a third card (Third Card) may be drawn. A total of 6 or 7 means Stand. A total of 8 or 9 is called a Natural and the result is declared immediately.
- Ace = 1 point
- 2–9 = face value
- 10, J, Q, K = 0 points
